Subject: Танец This appears to be a forum for English - Russian translations. I am new to the site and couldn't find a forum for Russian - English translations so I am using this forum. I hope you don't mind.Can anyone help me translate the Russian dance term "ШАГ" into English. Есть специальный термин "ШАГ" который обозначает высоту на которую исполнитель может поднять ногу и чем больше, тем лучше. This term has nothing to do with the English dance term "STEP." "développé à la seconde" - могу ошибаться, но это боковое движение; т.е. extension (стоя) - это боковая растяжка. А NicaSurfer, похоже, говорит о high kick, как в канкане |
| хммм... по-моему, это не очень подходит (high kick)... это все же движение, причем быстотечное, а "шаг" -- это свойство, врожденное или выработанное... |

| I also found the term "elevation" which sounds like the definition for ШАГ except that it seems to be part of a jump....appreciate everyone's help...including the Cleese silly walk. |

да, extension +1. зы. нет такого спецыяльного русского термина "шаг" в хореографии, который обозначает высоту поднятой ноги. автор брешет. |
