Traditionally, if you don’t get immediate redress through customer service it was customary to take your grievance to the media, usually through a consumer champion. In the United Kingdom, the apogee of media consumer champions is the BBC’s Watchdog programme. This can present something of a bottleneck for the consumer, given that a very small number of cases make it on air.
