You know I have been following this discussion with unflagging enthuisiasm. Let's look at the bigger picture - just for fun. It is pretty obvious that technical English is full of double entendres. Some of them are rather dull - like the notorious "erection" above. That "double meaning" is not funny at all -with "erection" being in standard usage- there is nothing to play with, as has been shown above (at least, to my satisfaction). There exist, however, outrageously funny examples of this type of humor. I recall one of them - it is from "A Bit of Fry and Laurie", the episode called "Hardware Store". You can google it easily - with the video and even transcripts if you like. Now, that was ball-bouncingly funny! I have not watched it for a while, but still remember that phrase " a triple-nob snatch membrane, greased and lubricated", after which Fry, exhausted, infuriated, and enraged beside himself, hit Laurie. Sorry for the off-topic, was just trying to lighten your mood. |

Подниму-ка старую тему, т.к. erection и installation как синонимы монтажа и проч - это, конечно, хорошо, но вот у меня они оказались в одном контексте оба, и как выкручиваться - не вполне понятно: Erection Work: To be planned and effected by the BUYER. Installation and Commissioning: Installation and commissioning will be effected by the SUPPLIER. Оборудование, о котором идет речь - пресс. Заранее благодарен за варианты |

имхо, здесь Erection Work -- монтажные работы Installation -- установка оборудования Чтоб корректнее перевести, надо посмотреть по тексту, что там в Erection Work входит |
