Subject: Учетный признак gen.

Как перевести "учетный признак аварии"? Идет в описание признаков аварии, т.е. почему данный случай мы называем аварией. Как это лучше выразить?

Tip: Incidents are ranked / categorized (into levels/classes/groups) by the severity, etc .. and the response they require. They will certainly have specific characteristics attributed to them to be assigned to this or that level/class, etc.

Похоже, не "почему данный случай мы называем аварией", а в чем авария выражается.
