| If it's the Dxxx company in Sweden, they seem to have decided to launch a work safety campaign for their staff, called it CHILD (for some reason), and then thought up a (very un-English) expansion to go with it -- 'Colleagues, Help Injuries to Leave Dxxx'. This explains why the English sounds very clumsy. |

'Help injuries to leave the company' = 'Make it easy for injuries to leave the company', ie 'We don't want injuries in our company', I think. Strange acronym, even stranger expansion. Moral 1: If a slogan has to be explained to people, it isn't a very good slogan. |

"Как вставлять", а не "где находить". (Sorry, Aiduza!) I know where to find them. Pchelka911: I would post in Russian if I thought my Russian was good enough -- but it isn't (which is why I've never translated into Russian -- only into English). So you'll have to put up with (=tolerate) my English, I'm afraid! |

Unfortunately I'm having the same problem that Daily had, namely: "ставляю я его [URL картинки] в пост, и получается всего-навсего ссылка на сайт, а не картинка". Alk later told Daily: "ссылка [to be copied-and-pasted into the MT posting] должна быть именно на картинку. Ведь каждая картинка, вставленная на веб-странице имеет свой адрес .... Правой кнопкой кликаем в картинку и выбираем в меню Интернет Эксплорера пункт Свойства. Смотрим реальный адрес jpg-файла, вставляем его". Well, I've right-clicked on various photos/images, on three different websites, using both Firefox (on my smartphone) and Internet Explorer + Firefox (on my PC), but when I do there's no option 'Свойства' (Properties). So instead I've tried copying the various URLs (none of which ends in 'gif', 'jpeg', 'jpg' etc) but when I've pasted them into my MT posting and clicked on 'Предварительный просмотр', there's no photo/image there -- just a hyperlink to the page it's on, as Daily found. I just want the image, not a link to the webpage it's on. I'm not feeling very intelligent at the moment.... |

right-click on any image. "Copy image address" insert (paste) the link into your post. bingo.

any image in your web browser, I mean. I use Google Chrome. It's "Copy image address" in Chrome, the wording may be different in other browsers. |

Wolverin/wow2/Erdferkel/Aiduza/others: Many thanks for your help. I haven't entirely cracked (=solved) it, but I may have found a partial way around the problem. I was wrongly assuming that all images in Google Images were either gif, jpg or jpeg etc images, but it looks as though many aren't. These sort of images won't appear in MT when you insert their URLs into it; instead, it'll just create a hyperlink, as Daily found in the thread that Wolverin pointed me to. I can get round this by specifying the image type when I search Google Images, for example by searching for: "thumbs up" type:gif OR type:jpg OR type:jpeg
I'm sure there's an easier/better/quicker way to do this, but this will suffice 'for starters'. Many thanks again to everyone! |
