daft as it feels to point out - смысл: хотя это и так понятно (хотя это и дураку понятно). Более дословно - "чувствуешь себя идиотом, когда это объясняешь, т.к. это и так очевидно". There is more to the north - север (Англии) - это не только... |

Или перефразировать. Может, как-то так: Раньше, когда говорили ..., часто возникали следующие ассоциации... Однако, сейчас, хотя это и так понятно, ... совсем другой / далеко не такой. |
