'a twist on ......' / '...... with a twist' here (figurative) = 'the same thing as before, but with a slight change/slight modification'. Also 'a story with a twist' (figurative) = 'a similar story to ones that have been written before, but with a change/modification, usually unexpected'. |

а мне вот этот анекдот нравится на тему twist (я его уже приводил на форуме, но не грех напомнить): "A guy is walking around Chinatown, in New York City, and goes into a bar. "Give me a Stoli with a twist," he says to the bartender, who happens to be Chinese. |

| Aiduza: You might enjoy this. Benny Hill was a popular UK comedian in the 1960-70s. One of his regular characters was a Chinaman who always confused his r's and l's. In this sketch, at an airport, he's with Henry McGee (in the uniform) and then Bob Todd, both trying hard to keep a straight face (=not to laugh). Nowadays this sort of humour isn't allowed on TV in Britain because of the sexist/racist content. |

| OFF: Wolverin: Excellent! Yes, political correctness killed him off, as it has done Alf Garnett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Till_Death_Us_Do_Part). It's strange that you can watch actors shooting/strangling/raping each other on TV, but you can't watch a comedian joking about someone's pronunciation. |
