Subject: город разбухал, ширился, лез, как опара из горшка i have to translate an extract of Bulgakov, belaya gardya. In this extract, the author is describing the city where a lot of refugees just arrived, trying to escape civil war. He says that the flats are over-crowded.город разбухал, ширился, лез, как опара из горшка. How can i translate the metaphore? thx a lot (and sorry about my english!) |

| je traduis en francais mais je parle bien anglais, donc j´utilise les deux forums. |

C'est une métaphore - la ville grandissait vite, comme une pâte (au sens culinaire) qui monte et peut déborder... (Mais il faudra trouver une tournure plus belle.) |
