The prime intention of the marking is to indicate Malaysian Armed Forces Ownership and thereby discourage misappropriation of Malaysian Armed Forces property. The marking of items, in itself, does not necessarily prevent theft but it acts as a deterrent factor as it enables the Malaysian Armed Forces to establish ownership of items suspected of having been removed without authority in writing from Malaysian Armed Forces establishment.
