The plant reliability and tolerance to failures shall be increased applying via PSD hardware and software features, able to warrant the safety of plant and machinery, and to minimize the probability of spurious shutdowns.
No failure of a single channel of programmable electronics hardware shall cause an undetermined/unpredictable mode of failure of the total configuration of the PSD.
Similarly to previous point, any fault within the software associated with a single channel of programmable electronics shall not cause an undetermined/unpredictable mode of failure of the total configuration of the PSD.
All field signals processed in PSD as well as trip signals generated in PSD shall be transferred via serial connection to DCS *to be displayed*, for trending and alarming.
