Возможно Line military traffic (management) agencies или как-то так, речь, по видимому, о перевозках войск идет Служба военных сообщений - органы, отвечающие за планирование, организацию и обеспечение воинских перевозок |

Это те, кто занимается logistics в первоначальном значении. Обеспечение перевозок войск и боеприпасов. То есть, взять название аналогичных служб в англоязычных армиях и по аналогии применить. Линейные - это значит на местах. Конкретно на железных дорогах. Как линейные отделы милиции. |

А линейные отделы военных сообщений в сов.союзе были на всех мало мальски значимых ждстанциях, портах, аэропортах, вокзалах, ждкассах. |
