Subjects were asked to view (degraded) faces and non-face (object) controls. The interaction between activity in the parietal region and the presence of faces was expressed most significantly in the right infero-temporal region not far from the homologous left infero-temporal region implicated in the object naming experiment above.

The data in the right panel of Fig. 5 suggests that the infero-temporal region shows face-specific responses, relative to non-face objects, when, and only when, parietal activity is high.

and non-faces when, and only when, medial parietal activity is high.
